18th LD June 2012 meeting rescheduled and relocated.

18th LD June 2012 meeting rescheduled and relocated.
Due to the WA State Democratic Convention being held on June 1-3, in Seattle, we have rescheduled the June Meeting to the following Saturday, June 9th and relocated it to be at the newly-opened Clark County Democrats Coordinated Campaign Office Headquarters near 4th Plain and Andresen Road.
The General Membership Meeting starts at 9:00 AM (as usual).
The Executive Board Meeting wil start a little later than usual: 8:30AM (bring your own breakfast and beverage).
We will be having a VoteBuilder Basic Training Session at 1:00 PM – about 3:00 PM (coordinated by Pete Aller, assisted by Dave Shehorn)
There will likely be a shortage of chairs, so if you have fold-up chairs or canvas campground chairs, bring them to the meeting.  The office will be staffed by that time, but I’m not sure how many people will be in the office that day.  We’ll likely meet in the backroom/kitchen.  If you have a laptop computer, bring it with you and you can try a few tasks on your own.  If you need a VoteBuilder login ID, send email to Pete Aller (imblu17@comcast.net ) or Dave Shehorn ( david.shehorn@yahoo.com )

The 2102 Washington State Democratic Party Convention

On June 1st, we’ll have Convention Committee Meetings, Party Building Trainings and Forums, and Caucus Meetings all leading up to the Welcome Reception and Gala Banquet.

On June 2nd, we’ll host the Congressional Breakfast and then the State Convention.  During the State Convention we’ll hear from our candidates including Jay Inslee and Sen. Maria Cantwell.  We have invited a keynote speaker and will update you when we have confirmation.  The Delegates will be voting on the official Democratic Nominations of Congressional Candidates and Statewide Candidates.  They will also vote on the platform and resolutions.

We also have activities on June 3rd.  This is when the WSDCC Legislative District Committee Members will be voting on the rest of our National Delegates going to Charlotte, NC.

We are excited to announce our keynote speaker for the Convention Gala Banquet on Friday June 1st will be the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey – Cory Booker.

A native of northern New Jersey, Cory Booker’s passion for politics and justice was instilled at an early age by a family committed to change. His parents successfully fought against racial discrimination and shattered corporate ceilings, inspiring him to pursue a life of breaking barriers and working for change. On May 9, 2006, Cory Booker was elected Mayor of Newark, with a  landslide victory in Newark.  He was re-elected in 2010.  Booker brings his passion for social change to the podium.  His drive and commitment are inspirational to audiences across the country.
